Practical Learning

For Practical learning last term we made hand stitched headphone bags. I ended up using a candy patterned material and for the plane material I chose a light purple.

I chose these patterns because I thought it would be a cute pattern and the colours would look good together.

The part I found the trickiest  was sewing on the letters because parts of it I didn't stitch properly.

The part I enjoyed the most was seeing the final results because it turned out much better than I was thinking it would.

I am very very proud of my headphone bag!

Active learning

For Active learning this term, I made a puppy paw string art. I am proud with my finished masterpiece because its a Christmas present for my mum and it turned out amazing. One thing I found challenging was hammering in the nails with my cast on. If I was to do it again i would take more time and choose a diffrent design.

Athletics Day

It was the minute before my first Athletics challenge, which was high jump. Sadly, I couldn't do it because I still had my cast on my arm. My real first activity was Vortex. I had so much fun with Mrs Wilton-Scott! I heard Rhlee in Room 7 cheering my name she was really loud. I finished but I didn't get in the top five, sad.  We did Long jump after that and I went further than I have done before I almost got to the end of the pit! After that it was lunch and the day was over, for me.

Reach resue (Swimming)

Every Wednesday and Friday He Puna Pumanawa   go swimming. We have been learning how to signal for help and how to save someone when they are in trouble. What we did was we got a buddy and one of us would go into the pool. They would put their hand up to  signal for  help with a pool noodle. The other person would sit on there knees and  hold on to the other side of the pool noodle and put it into the pool. They needed to drag the person to the side of the  pool and hold their arms, once they are ready to get out drag them out of the pool slowly.

This is a picture of me and Ruby doing it.
This is the technique on how to save someone.
We had so much fun!!!😀👍

On the 3rd of September the 8 year old and over went to Rutherford to do cross country. When we got there we had to sit in our age and our house groups.I was extremely nervous I was in Kauri (The Blue house and the best house).

When it was my turn I was coming in the top ten until I was up the very top of the hill.  My legs where pounding. I finished and I came 15th place. I really think running the block really paid of, I was so proud of myself.

The museum

On Friday the 17th of May He Puna Pumamawa and He Puna Kawenga went to the museum. The first thing He Puna Pumamawa did was go into the star dome. We learnt the matariki contsalation  has 1000 stars but we can only see 6 or 7. We learnt that the blue stars are the young stars and the red and orange stars are the old stars There is a constalation called the toutoru it is three stars in a straight line the Puanga star is directly above toutoru we also leant that there is a poem about stars. The  museum was so fun.

                                       This is the poem:
White and blue are young and new,
red and gold are old and cold.
